Educational activities | Yane Chalovski and Hristina Ivanoska | Project "Gradidnina: The garden as an instrument, permaculture as a methodology" within the framework of the European project "Big Time Takeover" | MKC, Skopje | 24.04.2023

On April 24 and 25, 2023, MKC Skopje will host the final conference within the European project "Big Time Takover", with the participation of cultural workers and educators from Associazione culturale Mulab from Italy, Rinova Limited (Great Britain), HFC-Hope for children CRC Policy Centar (Cyprus) and Fundacija Arteria (Poland).

From the very beginning, MKC cooperates with the artists Hristina Ivanoska and Yane Calovski in order to develop a modern interdisciplinary, artistic and educational concept and program, which will cover all the key goals and directions of the project. From this dialogue came the project "Gradidnina: The garden as an instrument, permaculture as a methodology" developed in collaboration with Hayan Al Halabi, an expert in the field of permaculture and a collaborator of the civic initiative "Bostanie", who is involved as an expert and educator in the creation of the first institutional permaculture garden in Skopje.

"Gradidnina" aims to encourage young people (aged 14 to 18) in three key areas: 1. creative expression through an artistic approach to nature, 2. using digital tools in the process towards permaculture gardening, and 3. developing responsibility for his possession and income from work. The main goal is to establish a holistic synthesis of different approaches for creative encouragement of young people, inspired by the great experience of the partners in the project at the local, regional and national level.

The public part of the program consists of the opening of an exhibition in Gallery 2 (above the Frosina Cinema) on Monday, April 24, starting at 6:30 p.m., which offers the opportunity to meet the participants and present documentation of the activities of all partners from the project.

The following day, on Tuesday, April 25, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the Frosina Cinema, the final conference will be held.

Margarita Arsova, coordinator of the project by MCC, together with Hristina Ivanoska and Yane Calovski, visual artists and mentors, will give an opening speech. There will be a presentation by Hayan Al Halabi, an expert in the field of permaculture and a collaborator in the project. This will be followed by presentations by partners Sara Simeone and Barbara Ruiz Lopez, Materahub from Italy, Enzo Pellegrini and Anna Maria Piccoli, Moulab from Italy, Venantsius Ohmanod Arteria Foundation from Poland, Andrea-Fotini Hadzikonstantinou and Ariana Tortelli from the Hope for Children organization from Cyprus, as well as Trevor Burgs, from the Rinova organization in London, UK.

The project aims to encourage young people to use their creative power and the potential of modern technology to speak out on issues affecting the community. MCC in this project perceives the opportunity to involve young people in creating content that is in line with project activities and goals, but mostly in the interest of the current urgency in creating a caring approach to nature.

The result of our participation in the project is the beautiful Gradidnina!
